Shell Currency

Mahara Club members staying at any of our hotels or aboard Grand Cruises ships can earn "Shell" points. These points are redeemable against hotel stays in all participating hotels and Nile cruise ships, as well as at dive and surf schools, beauty salons, internet and billiard cafes, in restaurants and bars, and at many shops.

Shells may be used to make purchases in participating establishments, at the exchange rate of 1 Shell = 1 Egyptian Pound (LE/EGP). Shells have no cash value, and may not be exchanged for cash. Shells may not be used to towards further vacation bookings.

Exchange rate shell-to-national currency: since 1 February 2017, 1 shell equal 1 LE.

The number of shells earned varies by country, and by Mahara Club status. Details are shown below. Shells will be awarded only to the lead passenger named on the booking.

Mahara Blue Card:                  1 Shell per €10 holiday package price

Mahara Gold Card:                 1.5 Shells per €10 holiday package price

Mahara Platinum Card:           1.5 Shells per €10 holiday package price

For example:

Mahara Blue Card: €600 package price = 60 Shells earned.

Mahara Gold Card: €600 package price = 90 Shells earned.

Mahara Platinum Card: €600 package price = 90 Shells earned
